About My Passion

In The Beginning...

There is always a beginning to any story and my story of travelling, (Travelling with two L is English And with one L it`s American English, OR English American, You Say Potato I Say Boverred). So going abroad started almost 50 years ago in middle school. I was probably around 10 years young when I was lucky enough to travel to Holland and Belgium with the school, I only remember tiny amounts of things that happened, and some of the people who's company I enjoyed whilst there, and while I'm on the subject of school and education this website is run by myself only, so any bad gramma, punctuation, and spelling is entirely my fault innit.

My usual holidays then where to Devon with my awesome Mum and Dad and (I should say) awesome big Brother who was actually not big just bigger than me, height wise, it`s not the place to talk about size here. We also had awesome holidays on the Isle of Wight mainly with my equally awesome Nan and Grandad although Mum and Dad would stay with us for a few days. I should point out that my favourite word at the moment is "awesome" so I would just like to mention that Devon is also awesome.

I`m sure by the end of the 1980`s going on holiday as a family had come to an end, they were some great holidays too, unfortunately there`s only a few photos and some standard and super 8mm film to view but they will slowly fade away and not be awesome anymore.

Sea View on the Isle of Wight, and Berry Head in Devon are places I would love to visit again before I kick the bucket.

   A Few years later...

In 1984 my love for travelling had began, at the age of 20 I boarded my first plane with a friend from work and his friend to the Spanish island of Majorca. I visited Majorca with my big bruv and our friends in 1985, 1986, 1987, and 1988, and one year again in the winter. I took my super 8mm camera and started filming our adventures from 1986.

This picture shows my Braun Nizo 6080, what an awesome pose!

The picture was taken by my bruv, Phil, thank you for allowing me the chance to embarrass myself.

More on my super 8mm equipment coming later.

We changed direction in 1989 when we holidayed in Tenerife and 1990 it was Rhodes.

                 All Change...

Then 1991 I was married, our honeymoon was in Portugal.

That was my last motion film I made.

From 1992 onwards it was only holidays in England. With the start of a growing family from 1993 I bought my first camcorder. England is quite impressive. Norfolk was my favourite.

These holidays were recorded onto standard definition video.

The Hitachi VM-E31E 8mm video cassette camcorder.

This beast had a massive 8x zoom! Not a bad picture although 4:3 aspect ratio, standard definition, low band, complimented with mono sound.

More on this camcorder and others in my ever expanding video camera collection will be added over time.

        In 2010 and 2011

Back on a plane and to Cypress for 2 awesome holidays.

This time in HD video (1080i) widescreen (16:9 aspect ratio) and in 5.1 surround sound.

The Panasonic HDC-SD200 SD memory card camcorder.

Full HD, 12x zoom, pull out colour monitor, 5.1 channel mic with a fluffy microphone cover to cut wind noise. I had to cut some of the footage out because I got my fluff in view! Don`t worry I had a trim.
